So I’m trying out a new email marketing campaign program that is intended to make things more easy for me, it’s called Trafficwave and I’m hoping that the leads that I have developed will be helped in their home business by this service even if my direct sales companies are not a match for their home business needs. I am seeing a need for a home business referral service do you know of a home business referral service that is a matchmaker for home businesses? I think it would be a great service!

I ventured to expand my comfort zone earlier this year, to push myself to grow and perhaps satiate my entrepreneurial spirit/drive. This really was a “stumble upon” occurrence, first I found two amazing companies that I myself love the products and then in turn decided, I should try to take a run at selling these, run with the business end of things, so I did. As it turns out I really enjoy it! I enjoy the networking portion of it more than I thought that I would! I joined the these two companies strategically and specifically because they fulfilled needs in my life that I felt this year. I have made a decision that I’d like to have a more natural household and these companies give me the opportunity to expand my horizons and to learn more about business development (giving me a chance to learn more and more everyday). I knew joining into these two companies I could manage the monthly sales requirements (one of them has NO sales monthly requirement). Many people ask me when I tell them that I am in two direct sales companies as a part time commitment “wow, how do you do that?”, for me it’s easy… I am a “over-worker”, workaholic (call it what you’d like) and am always thinking about the next thing that I should be considering and doing in my life and career.

Here’s what I know.

I get great fulfillment in helping people create a road map to their goals.
I love helping people acknowledge the difference between goals and dreams (a time frame) and recognizing that the only way to achieve goals is the SAME WAY a mouse eats an ELEPHANT!! ONE BITE AT A TIME!!
I’m a creative problem solver,
I’m a collaborative project planner, my creative juices get flowing when someone says “I want to do this…” I automatically think about what that will accomplish and how to make it even more effective, even better!
I’m a helper, I love to be of service to people!
I love reminding people what they need to remember that they DO have good things and there IS something positive to parse out of most everything.
I’m a follower-upper – that’s NON-technical lingo for I like to follow up and invest in people emotionally and hold them accountable for their own successes!

As it turns out, I’m pretty built for assisting people succeed, AND it’s rewarding to me!! So my 2014 goals were born from my reflections about my 2013 new experiences…I want to build my network, build my teams and assist others to succeed! I have ENTREPRENEURIAL spirit in my body and I can help people, so now I’m working on building what I’ve begun in 2013. I’m watching the techniques that are “proven” in the industry and implementing them to see what is effective for me and my teams.

As I learn, you’ll learn too…I have already come across the push back from my close friends and family “pyramid scheme” and the truth of the matter is the response to this is BEST handled gently by educating the people to the 21st century definition. Pyramid scheme is a scheme that involves not providing a service or product…and neither of my companies is that, they both involve actual products! Yes they both involve multilevel marketing or sales but I believe in giving a service as a manager and a leader in the team so if I can just get a few moments to explain the difference that problem is resolved. My partner is now asking questions to me about building my business and that makes me SO happy!! It’s a business that rewards me for investing and helping others!!

Next step more research on the Network Marketing mentors that I think fit my style best…there are so many Eric Worre, Ray Higdon, Mark Harbor…the list goes on but no women that I can find just yet…yet I say!! Who do you follow in Network or Attraction marketing?

Bumps to Baby – First Comes Doctor visits

WARNING – THIS POST INVOLVES A STORY ABOUT A LESBIAN WHO’S TRYING TO GET PREGNANT….

OK, you’ve been warned!

So last week was the “are we cleared for take off??” visit with my GYN…and my million questions (which I did NOT write down …impressive for such a type A’er as I am). I think I got all the information that we need. Her test results should be coming back shortly (within weeks) but she seemed fine with the exam. So I think we are cleared for take off, if only it were that easy!!

I’m still navigating through the “I’m gay I can’t just “get pregnant” folks” statement. I’m really trying to not come off as flip or ignorant when I respond to people. However, I think that I tend to sound that way so, it takes some additional softening for me to express that I need some insight on what the next steps are in my “position”. Case in point, I called to make the appointment to have a pre-pregnancy screening and the receptionist says “so whats the nature of the visit” and I said “pre-pregnancy screening” she says (after a long pause) well usually people come to us after they are pregnant. My response – well I’d love to do that but I’m gay and can’t just “get pregnant” I’m going to need your help for that…her response, ohhhhh pause breathing ok. Jump forward to my visit (different nurse different day) SAME CONVO, can we say MARK THE CHART LADIES!! Mark the chart. I can understand a new office but when I have been coming with my gay-ness to the same OB-GYN for 5+ years you’d think they’d MARK THE CHART – THIS IS A GAY ONE FOLKS…apparently there isn’t a code for that.

So next we determine with testing if my eggs are “on and poppin” and if that is all good then we try to do an IUI insemination, a very EXPENSIVE IUI insemination, we’re talking about $1K each effort. SO we try using a little bit of the $1K several times…right?!? WRONG the doc says here’s what day it should be and BOOM, we schedule and do it. WHICH MAKES ME UBER NERVOUS…why…because I can only imagine the horrors of walking out with baby NOT in the location that it’s supposed to be in, to try to not be too graphic what keeps it where it’s supposed to be??? I can’t believe that I am 36 and asking the “proverbial” questions. Thank goodness for my family of friends because my mother has informed me that two women can’t have a baby…this should be interesting folks.

I’m still doing my BBT in the AMs so that I can monitor when I am ovulating too (nothing like trying multiple approaches)…

SO next step is figuring out if I have “healthy eggs”, getting the blood work back (Wednes/Thurs) and figuring out a donor which has been conveniently narrowed down because some of our “list” are “no longer active” – THAT was an interesting call to Fairfax Cryo Bank today!

What advice do you have for someone who’s navigating (or trying to navigate this path)? Any insight is appreciated!

Does your make up company provide ingredients?

Look at the containers in your cabinets, and see what they tell you! Then go to the manufactures website and take a look at the list of ingredients! STILL can’t find ingredients? I wonder why?!?!

Does your eyeshadow, concealer or blusher use Talc? How about anything that ends with the word “paraben”? If they do you may want to throw them in the trash where they belong….Here is why:
Parabens are used as a preservative in many cosmetics. According tosafecosmetics.org ” Parabens are a group of compounds widely used as anti-microbial preservatives in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics products, including underarm deodorants. Parabens are absorbed through intact skin and through the gastrointestinal tract and blood. U.K. researchers found measurable concentrations of six different parabens in 20 human breast tumors. The study highlights the need for more research on the potential link between products containing parabens and increased breast cancer risk. ”
SO are Paraben’s really bad?

Well – you decide for yourself: Parabens can mimic the hormone estrogen, which is known to play a role in the development of breast cancers. Researchers have found parabens in breast tumors and believe there is a relationship between parabens and tumors. And in the July 2002 issue of the Archives of Toxicology, Dr. S. Oishi of the Department of Toxicology, Tokyo Metropolitan Research Laboratory of Public Health reported that exposure of newborn male mammals to butylparaben “adversely affects the secretion of testosterone and the function of the male reproductive system.” If a causal link between a chemical and cancer is not enough to avoid a product that can easily be avoided, I don’t know what is. There are a lot of other reports available all over the internet, but most of them are all related to reproductive health in some way or another.

The jury is still out on how and why parabens might affect development and growth of both babies and adults. But I decided a while ago to get rid of any products that have it and replace them with products that don’t. There is no harm being more careful with this kind of stuff – remember, things that were deemed safe in the past then came back to haunt us all when we were told that they actually caused all sorts of diseases. There ARE safe alternative’s available.

So back to the initial question – what are parabens? They are chemicals we need to work hard to avoid, period. Be sure to shop for paraben-free products and foods whenever possible, and always read the labels on the things you buy.
